Adult profile is a special category of a profile that is marked as having adult oriented content. This is to ensure that non-adult users wont be able to access that profile, as yahoo would force an age check whenever anybody would try to access an adult profile.
yes you can change your public profile into an adult profile, for that you need to go to edit profile and check the check-box "Adult-oriented content?' under the Display Options.
